In this blog I'm going to share 3 things I wish I knew at this point in my photography journey! Enjoy

3 Things I wish I knew from the start:

Person sitting on concrete steps wearing a graphic t-shirt and shorts holds a professional camera.

I. Community matters

when starting I didn't really have people to ask much questions to without feeling like I was annoying them, I later found that there are TONS of facebook groups for beginner photography businesses and also for other areas in photography.

II. Create separate portfolios.

When you are starting off, until you decide a Niche your Instagram/facebook page will be a large mix of photos & that's okay, but if you're looking to have a place where your clients can go and see your best sports photos or portraits you don't want them to have to scroll by your pictures of pets/landscape to see it, put together accessible portfolios for them to see just what they want to see!

III. Delivery methods.

Do you still send clients their photos via Imessage or sms? STOP IT RIGHT NOW! people won't take you serious until you do. start using websites like

  • Pixieset
  • Shootproof
  • Cloudspot
  • Picflow

your clients will greatly appreciate the appearance of their final album and brings more value to their experience with your business!
